tropes i love!

ship dynamics and shippy narrative tropes i love. SFW.

• i LOVE friends to lovers. even when i like enemies to lovers, i like them as enemies to friends to lovers.
• childhood friends but if there's spice
• ensemble → pair: not a solid pair in the beginning, but over time start to like each other
• hodgepodge to lovers: when they've been literally everything to each other and THEN they get together (or re-get together)
• mutual pining
• OR, when the guy has a big ol crush on the girl but endures it
• mutual obsession
• one-sided devotion
• one-sided animosity!
• then the other person is either like “uhhh ok” or “NO PLS LIKE ME!!!!!”
• dynamics where characters are playful with each other and banter well
• "arguing while holding hands" vibes
• bad social skills guy x well-liked girl - i enjoy most variations, but specifically love:

• regular person x non-human (robot, ghost, demon, etc) relationships
• this is SPECIFICALLY fire emblemmy, but i love epistolary / historical document-type depictions of them... as if they were real people being written about by scholars.. people saved stuff by them... ough

• HL where the guy is suave and confident and the girl just blushes and/or cries lol
• gender swaps/bends, body swaps, etc
• soulmate AUs
• when both halves are too similar in demeanor (both sweet and polite, both smug bastards, etc)
• flirty/playful x tsundere/angry with them
• ships that are ATG (any two guys)
• kidfics, when drawn out too long
• enemies to lovers (i prefer it onesided!)
• "all our friends have to intervene and help us get together and basically sustain our relationship"
• childhood friends as just an established thing, or any sort of "package deal" ships
• dynamics that play too closely to the charas' original personalities (the opposite of "they're different around each other vs around other people")
