  • Bambee: bambi parody my siblings showed me as a kid - i was super into it for some reason, so it deserves to be here
  • Cockroach: cute little domestic video about a dog and cat couple dealing with a cockroach
  • Diamond Jack: a rollerskating thief โ€“ย love the vintage sound of the song, and the animation is so fun!
  • ใ€Œใƒ—ใƒชใƒณใฎใ†ใŸใ€(Jigglypuff's Song): my favorite poketoon! it makes me teary.
  • LOUISE: really beautifully done short film about the dark side of professional ballet
  • Mascot Prep: cartoon pilot about mascots learning how to be mascots lol. main character (voiced by mitchell musso!) is fucked because he has no product yet
  • NERVOUS: a nervous dog is left at a doggy day care
  • omelette: no talking, just music and a sweet little french bulldog (or boston terrier? can't tell) who can cook
  • Perils of Love: cute animation i saw as a kid about... obviously... the perils of love. set to a french song!
  • ๋–ณ๋‹ค ๊ทธ๋…€!! (There she is!!): a bunny falls in love with a cat in a world where interspecies romance is forbidden. extremely good; you get emotionally more invested with each installment (compiled here nicely in one video)
  • There's a Man in the Woods: well-written, unsettling spoken word story, but the animation enhances it x10
  • Try our Lusty Man TV Dinners!: silly fake commercial my siblings showed me as a kid - shaped our humor somewhat
  • Welcome to My Life: i watched this as a youth and loved it. love how the monsters look, love the mockumentary style and sweet tone, and love the commentary on asian americanism

a section for things people kept recommending so much so that i got fed up and made the executive decision to never watch them. that or i tried and simply didn't vibe with them. some of them are also shows/movies i have beef with for no reason. don't talk to me about these shows/movies unless you also have beef with them

taste

i'm generally bad at consuming any audiovisual media, because i hate that i have to go at the pace of the media (rather than be able to skim or read quickly like i would with text or purely visual matter). it's a level of concentration i can't muster most days unless i have a good reason to. i also have an obsessive personality, so if i watched too many good movies in a row, i would probably go insane.

as a result, i consume a lot of lighthearted stuff, or rewatch things i saw during childhood/adolescence i can play in the background for comfort so i don't have to take in anything new. i like lots of other movies but it's hard for me to consider a movie a fave if i can't rewatch it all the time. for example: eeaao made such an impact on me but it also bodied me emotionally and i can never watch it again lol

i'm trying to expand the range of things i'll see these days, though, and there are many exceptions to my preferences. but i just wanted to make a list. so here's a list of some patterns i've noticed in the shows and movies i tend to like.

  • COMEDY!!!!! i love joy i love laughter
  • character-driven stories (over plot)
  • fun ensembles
  • anything with a cute guy i can fixate on
  • anything with a cute ship i can fixate on
  • animation. i can take anything in the list underneath this one if it's animated in a cute style
  • asian representation
  • musical numbers
  • "chick flicks"
  • the complicated ordeal of being part of a family
  • for cartoons: i prefer story-driven cartoons in general, but prefer their contained episodes/one-shots to the plot-heavy ones. the pickiest cartoon enjoyer alive
