blorbo stats

interface created some time in 2023 or early 2024. screenshots taken on may 24, 2024.

airtable has a neat little function where you can create an interface based on an existing database, so just for kicks i tried it with my blorbo roster.

unfortunately i can't share the actual link with the charts because airtable is stingy with their sharing features, so i just took screenshots.

as of writing this, i have 256 blorbos registered. i've got way more on here i think than on the blorbo page on my site, because i included more characters in the database – characters who were a passing fancy, that sort of thing.

for most of them, i have no problems hanging around other people who enjoy them. i'm a little more particular about others – this means i find it mildly unpleasant to engage deeply with other big fans of that character, mostly because i might have a particular interpretation of them or a ship i really like, and clashing tastes are better off avoided. i'm only extremely protective over a small handful.

most of my blorbos are, oddly, from games. i don't play a lot of games, but i like a lot of characters from pokemon / animal crossing / fe3h, which gave the "games" category a huge lead.

most of my blorbos are my age/actually in irl dateable range – but that might be my current age skewing the data. not all of them have defined ages, and some are pretty vague (how old are ac villagers supposed to be?) so i would estimate, and i usually estimated the vague ones to be around my age.

i have more blorbos from asian media than western, but again, the pokemon/ac/fe3h thing. in any case, it's not by much.

i collected so, so many blorbos during the pandemic. to be fair, i probably had many more blorbos back in the day that i'd just forgotten about, and the pandemic ones were just lucky to have arrived at a time i was insane and started tracking shit.

something i will note is that for a lot of my school days, i liked k-pop and pop punk bands! i did not include idols or celebrities in this blorbo tracker, because they're real, aging, autonomous people and i wouldn't know how to sort them (+ would feel weird about it, lmfao), but i'm sure they would have made a difference in the "age i got into them" category.

finally, most of my blorbos are humans. however, if you add up all the non-human ones, they are only down by 56, which i don't think is much.

i also made a few filters so i could see what the stats were like given xyz condition. here's what it looks like when you filter for only the blorbos in their 20s~30s.

as you can see, the 20s~30s category is composed of a confusing variety: see itachi uchiha being followed by daffy duck (?????) (i just think he's around that age, in human terms). but these charts were not meant to save the world so who cares.
